<< BackTech Alumnus Advances on "The Voice"
Arkansas Tech University alumnus Cody Belew has advanced to the next stage of the NBC singing competition "The Voice."
Belew's blind audition performance of "Hard to Handle" was part of the program's broadcast on Monday, Oct. 1.
Performers on "The Voice" must entice at least one of the celebrity
judges --- Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine or Blake Shelton
--- to turn their chairs around as an indication that they want the
performer on their team for the next stage of the competition.
As the final note of Belew's 90-second performance was played, Green
pushed the button turning his chair around. Belew will be a member of
Team CeeLo for the next stage of the show, which will pit team members
against each other in one-on-one competitions with berths in the live
performances on the line.
A native of Beebe, Belew graduated from Arkansas Tech in 2007 with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in music. He now resides in Nashville, Tenn.
