Arkansas
Tech University alumnus Cody Belew is moving on to the third round of
competition on the NBC television program "The Voice."
Belew won his one-on-one singing competition during the battle round
in the episode that aired to a national audience on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
He competed against an artist named DOMO. They sang the song
"Telephone" together, and celebrity coach CeeLo Green determined that
Belew gave the better performance.
As a result, Belew will appear on the live performance shows later
this fall. He and the other singers who advance to that stage of the
show will be competing for a recording contract.
A native of Beebe, Belew graduated from Arkansas Tech in 2007 with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in music. He now resides in Nashville, Tenn.
"The Voice" is among the highest-rated television programs in the
United States. It has averaged more than 12 million viewers during its
third season.
