Mary Bane Lackie was selected to participate in Class XII of Leadership Arkansas with the Arkansas Chamber of Commerce, September 2017 - May 2018. She serves as vice chancellor for university advancement/executive director of the Foundation at University of Arkansas Fort Smith.

Well, after turning 50 in March I was finally able to obtain my Bachelors Degree in Professional Studies!!! I graduated from ATU on

13 May 2017, "the class of 2017," and I feel so gratified and proud to have participated in this educational program!!! All I have to do now is to decide whether or not to begin the Masters Degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security, but I have plenty of time to make this decision!!!
Mark Looney (ACCT '09) and K'Leigh Looney (ACCT '09) are happy to announce the arrival of their son, Mason Reid. Mason was born on August 21, 2017 weighing 10 lb 2.3 oz.
Brandy was named Pharmacy Residency Program Director at CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock. Brandy resides in Conway with her husband Nathan, and two children, Lily and Eli.
Robert (Lefty) Walkord,, BIOS '65 and June Baker Walkord, ENG '65 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip out West. They were married April 9, 1967 in Benton, AR and have lived in FL since their marriage. Lefty and June are very proud parents of three children and eight grandchildren. Life is good.

Mike Harris ('16) accepted a position as an Assistant Residence Hall Director at Western Kentucky University and was also admitted to the Western Kentucky University Graduate School to pursue a Master of Arts in Student Affairs.

James "James" Waldo

Class of 1998
James married his wife, Danielle, on December 13, 2014 and in October 2015 James was hired by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Savannah, GA District Headquarters as a Geologist. Also, in June 2016, James retired from the U.S. Army Reserves Engineer Corps after 27 years of service at the rank of Major.

In May 2017 after the passing the National ASBOG Exam, James became a registered Professional Geologist in the state of Georgia.
Kirsten Boyd Banks (Accounting 2010) and Michael Banks (General Studies 2010) announce the birth of their daughter, Addie Leigh Banks. She was born on 11/8/2016. She weighed 8 lbs 4 ozs. They live in Conway.

Kelsey Boyd Cox (Speech Communications 2008) and Jerome Cox (Physics 2005) announce the birth of their son, Miles Wesley Cox. He was born on 4/28/2016. He weighed 9 lbs. Miles has a brother, Cameron Eli Cox. They live in Springdale.

Gerry Laster (MuEd, 1970), was named YACHT BROKER OF THE YEAR, 2011-2012, by the Gulf Coast Yacht Brokers' Association (GCYBA), based in Houston, TX in the Galveston Bay Area. Gerry is Immediate Past President of GCYBA, Past President of the (National) Yacht Brokers' Association of America (YBAA) and has served as Director on the Board of YBAA, the Certification Advisory Council, and Sail America. He has also been a founder and GM of a yacht dealership and brokerage in Clear Lake Shores, TX. Currently an Area Sales Manager focused on financing in the Marine Industry, he remains an avid sailor, moving into semi-retirement and progressive relocation back to Arkansas over the past year.

Nathanael was accepted to teach part-time at North Arkansas college as the engineering graphics instructor, while working full-time and going to classes full-time.

Marriage of Nathanael Smith to Jessica Peters (now Smith) on September 2nd, 2016.

Met through Arkansas Tech, and graduated the same year (one spring of '13, one fall of '13). Became friends for 3-4 years, before dating for over 2 years, before getting engaged in February of '16. They now live in Harrison, AR, where Nathanael is a graphic designer at a sign company, part time teacher at North Arkansas College, and full-time student pursuing his welding certification. Jessica works full-time as a trucking warranty company.
